The Big 35

I started prepping for Dave’s big 35th surprise birthday party at the end of May. The prepping began by calling all of his and my siblings and parents and asking them to wish Dave a happy birthday and tell a memory about Dave onto a video. They sent it to me through email and I had Chloe make it into an awesome video with star tack music in the background. Then I called my friend Kayla to have her make the cake and cupcakes.

He was very spoiled this year. I made a big deal because it is such a big milestone, and because I can.  On Tuesday July 28th, while we were in Canada, we drove an hour away to visit the town Vulcan. He has never been there and I wanted his Star trek theme to begin.

On August 8th at 4pm the Brunner’s walked in with the cake/cupcakes while Dave was only aware they were coming for dinner. And then walked in Ruy (Doterra work friend) which he was the most shocked with. Then he was followed by the rest of my family.

We started the evening with sending all the men (Dave, Jesse, Ruy, Brian and Dad) downstairs to play ping pong. While the rest of us made dinner and the kids played. For dinner we had Grilled chicken with raspberry chipotle sauce, breakfast potatoes, fruit with lemon fruit dip and the most amazing cake. It was a white cake with lemon curd and white chocolate mousse.  The Star Trek symbol is made out of white chocolate and edible silver spray paint.

(This is the story Jesse made about the cake; Oh No! A Klingon vessel has shot down one of the Starfleet ships! No worries! The U.S.S. Enterprise is here to save the day! Haha! But a battle seen near the planet Kronos was my idea.. And here it is! Kronos is being sucked in a black hole as a battle is going on.)

After dinner and cake, the men played more ping pong and the ladies talked upstairs. About 7pm we finally got the men to take a break and watch the surprise movie. He loved it.

D,
You are an amazing father and husband. I love that you are a huge Star Trek fan and we even named our son after it. I love that you always make me laugh, you work hard and you will do anything for our little family.

Happy Happy Birthday!
