{Asleep}

DSC_1326DSC_1327
All you wanted to do was read a ton of books, I already read about 5 and it was time for you to go down. You drank your bottle and I put you into your crib like I normally do, and you freaked out. You screamed and cried and I left the room and let you be for about 5 min. It broke my heart listening to you. I came back because you didn’t calm down and  picked you up and rocked you. You fell asleep in my arms and were out. I laid you backed into the crib and and you freaked out. I knew you were tired, so I took you and laid with you in my bed with my arm around you, you talked for a little bit and eventually fell asleep. I slipped away. You slept for 2 hours.
This was your first time taking a nap in my bed since you were about 1 month old. You look so small on the king size.
I took a picture so I could always remember how precious and cute you are asleep.

{Homemade}

I have been making homemade syrups for a while.  They are simple and oh so good (better then the stores) Here are my 2 most favorites:

Brown Sugar Syrup:
1 cup (packed) brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon maple  flavoring
Hear sugar, corn syrup, and water on low heat until dissolved.
Remove from hear and add flavoring. Serve over hot pancakes or waffles.  *yields 2 cups

Buttermilk Vanilla Syrup:
(from Magleby's  fresh)
2 cups sugar
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup butter
Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add:
2 Tbsp. karo syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. vanilla
Enjoy it over French toast.

{17 months}

DSC_1120
- You walk around all the time with your hands held together or one hand is behind you back.  Sometimes you will walk around while swinging your arms in front of you back and forth.
-You are doing a lot better going downstairs without much assistants. You still prefer to walk down the stairs.
-You are getting stronger and you pulled yourself up onto the ottoman.
-Your new thing is to flip the laundry basket upside down and climb onto it and stand.
-You are getting so tall, you don’t have to stand on your tippy toes to reach the door handles. You try really hard to open them but you're not strong enough yet. We are not looking forward for that day. However, you have been able to open the doors at nana's house.
-You're still a huge upside down finger sucker with your right hand while your left hand plays with mine or your hair.
-You think it so fun to come over to me when I sit on the floor and pull my hair. When I get mad at you it’s a game and pull even harder. Daddy has to save me most of the time.
-You get frustrated really easy. One moment you are happy then the next you are screaming. Everytime that happens, dad reminds me that you get if from me. I am sorry, you are just going to have to remember to take deep breaths.
-Every morning you have chocolate milk in your Sippy cup.
-You have mastered drinking out of a drinking fountain.
-We have been going to toddler time on Wednesdays and music time on Friday mornings at the Provo library and you are loving it.
-We will ask…

  • Where's your eyes? You squint and blink, blink, blink.
  • Where’s your nose?  You first put your finger in your nose, then you will put it on top of your nose.
  • What does a cow say? Mo
  • What does a Bee say? Bizzzzz
  • What does a dog say? You pant like a dog with your tongue out.
-When you are looking for me you will say in your sad voice meme. (for mama)
-Your imagination is soaring right now. You like to lay down on your side or lay your head on the couch and play with your cars.
-Your finicky eating habits are getting a little better. You eat better if you have mommy's fork and plate, and I can’t rush you or help you. Then you do pretty well. Your new favorite food is yogurt chips.
- Most of it we can’t understand, but you are always talking, having something to say.
-You get really excited when you hear a plane or helicopter, you run to the window or if  you are outside you point and look up. Watching until it disappears.
-You give the best hugs. Wrapping your arms around and squeezing as hard as you can.
-You like it when I sing 5 little sausage; while changing you bottom.
  • 5 little sausages sizzling in a pan, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, and one when bam!
You are so full of life and We love watching you enjoy every moment of it. We have loved having you with us for 17 months and we are looking forward for many more. We love you Mr. Magoo.

{Nursery}

DSC_1339
Today was your first day of Nursery and you did great. Daddy took you and you were playing so well, after 10 minutes he left.  I quietly opened the door and I notice you were sitting at the table being so big. When I closed the door I had to fight back tears. My little boy is growing up way too fast.
Daddy said when we were heading home that he also checked on you and you were playing so well. He also had to fight back tears.
We love you more each day, and we are truly blessed to have you as our son. You are our Sunshine.

Friday Night Traditions

DSC_1334
Friday nights is pizza night at our house. I got this idea from a sister in my ward, and I loved it so we started  2 months ago with this new  tradition.  I mostly make homemade pizza, but if I don’t feel up to it we grab a  Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake (tastes almost homemade).
It makes Friday Night dinner a lot easier, I don’t have to think what are we going to have for dinner? I already know. I know I will be keeping this tradition around.

{Farm Country}

Thursday, Kayla and Carson came to play while Jesse went to teach music lessons. We all piled into the car and went to the Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. Dad’s co-worker dropped him off right after we arrived. We spent the afternoon exploring the animals.

You are not afraid of anything. You really wanted to pet the cow but it was just out of your reach so instead you watched it eat.

Carson held onto his mom and giggled at the cow.

You are looking at these mean piglets. They all wanted in to eat at the same time and they would oink and bite at each other.

You and Carson enjoyed watching the sheep. You weren’t afraid of it, because you tried to pet it through the fence.

You had fun riding the miniature horse around and around. What a pro, one handed.

We ended our fun with a carriage ride, it was such a relaxing ride you and Carson said nothing as we rode around. We love having these experiences with you and we will have many more.

{Play Group}

Every Monday and Wednesdays at 11am we head off to play group. Will will rotate and go to different homes, or we go to the park when the weather is warm, or find cheap fun activities around town.  We both enjoy going; I get to visit with the ladies in the ward while you play with your friends.
On  Wednesday we went to Jump around Town and you loved it. You are not afraid of big blowup toys and the entire hour you ran/jumped  around on the big trampoline.
