Potty Training
Ryker, you've been showing some signs of wanting to be potty trained, especially when you put your stuffed animal on the potty. I am not ready for my little boy to grow up. You need to stay little forever. Nana often tells me,”he is moving forward weather you like it or not.” I guess she is right, so the potty training has begun.
I looked up online of different ways to potty train kids and everyone has there ideas so I picked a little off of each and made my own. I decided to not train you in 3 days and not to rush so when we are home I put you in underwear.
1: You started off really good and I reminded you often to use the potty and towards the end of the day you would refuse to go and ending with him not using the potty and a lot of accidents on the floor. We were both mad at each other and we were just done.
Week 2: I decided to try it for another week and while I was a play group a mother was talking and mentioned that she puts toys on top of the fridge every time her kids goes potty on the toilet he gets to pick a toy off the fridge. I really liked the idea, so I gave it a try. The first time he went in the potty I praised you and we went in to the kitchen and got a toy. You were quite happy. Then you wanted more, I mentioned you needed to go potty in the toilet to get another one. Then the rest of the time I really didn’t have to remind you, you would run over and sit on the potty and go. {I love the potty we have because it signs when the toilet get wet and I know that he went in it} By the end of week he had only a hand full of accidents.
Week 3: On Sunday you really wanted Peso from Octonuats, so Dad and I told you you had to use the potty and on Monday we would get one. You listened and did really well you even started pooping on the toilet with your underwear on {that’s progress}. On Monday we went to get Peso but they didn’t have one, so instead you got Gup C ship.
Week 4: Monday you did really well and Monday night about 10 pm you threw up and for the rest of week you were dealing with throw up or diarrhea. My poor boy.
Week 5: We went to New Mexico and we didn’t even try.
Week 6: We gave the same idea with a toy a try, but you are refusing to listen to us and you often had accidents. Both of us were at our whist end. Dad and I decided to take a break since we are going on a trip at the end of June to Canada and all of our hard work would most likely be flushed down the toilet. No pun intended.
Over all, you did progress well, but we are taking a break and we will be picking this up again in August. As Dave says, what's the hurry.

Shows/Movies
I thought I would document some of your favorite show because I wonder what my favorite shows were when I was your age, I can only think of one and it was Cinderella. I watched it every day while my sister went to Kindergarten.
There are so many shows and movie out there to chose from, you have defiantly gone through a few shows. Shows you loved; Clifford the Big Red Dog when you were 9 months – 2 years, Chuck 18 month- 2 years, Caillou 18 month- still {every once in a while}
Your first favorite movie was Monster's Inc. at age 2 and then Disciple Me.
We don’t know what it will be next. Your choice of entertainment is:
Toy Story; you like 1 and 3 movie. Your favorite character is Buzz, when you watch the movie you will pull out all Toy Story toys and play while watching.
Henry Hugglemonster is one of the most recent shows you have been watching non-stop. You mimic them and it’s too darn cute.
Octonauts will always be your #1 show to watch.

Memorial Day
The weather was absolutely perfect, so we started off our morning with a 3 mile run for Dave while I rode my bike along side him, towing Ryker in his trailer.
In the afternoon my family {minus dad, who is in Texas visiting his sick father and Brian and Britnie, who were at work} went bowling at the Y. It was Ryker’s first time. He liked running up and pushing the ball down the elephants trunk, until the 6 lb bowling ball decided to fall off and land on his big toe. It is truly a miracle that he didn’t break it. It only nicked the tip of his toe nail and it bled underneath. We got a band aid and he was fine afterwords and was running around.
The Score:
Jason- 110
Dave-106
Mom-86
Me-86
Spencer- 80
Ryker-75
We are not professionals, but we sure did have a fun time.
We came home and made homemade Bonzi burgers from Red Robin, pasta salad, chips and Snicker apple salad. Brian and Ryker had fun playing around.
I am grateful for all the men and women who are serving or have served in the military so my family can be free. “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” –George S. Patton
