I have been making homemade syrups for a while. They are simple and oh so good (better then the stores) Here are my 2 most favorites:
Brown Sugar Syrup:
1 cup (packed) brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
Hear sugar, corn syrup, and water on low heat until dissolved.
Remove from hear and add flavoring. Serve over hot pancakes or waffles. *yields 2 cups
Buttermilk Vanilla Syrup:
(from Magleby's fresh)
2 cups sugar
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup butter
Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add:
2 Tbsp. karo syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. vanilla
Enjoy it over French toast.
