Whiting Campground

For our Anniversary, Dave wanted to go camping so we went to Mapleton to this campground called Whiting. My family came with us for one day and night then they were going to leave Friday evening and Dave and I would stay overnight and leave the next day. We spent the afternoon setting up our camp and down the road was a pond that was flowing over the road going down the mountain. We waded in the water and talked for a while. As time passed Spencer started to get wet all over and eventually Dave decided to join Spence in the water. Once we got back to camp we started dinner (Dutch oven potatoes, corn on the cob and hot dogs) while dinner was cooking, we all sat around and relaxed. While we were relaxing we had the fire blazing and I was a little to close to the heat of the fire and it gave me a minor first degree burn on my legs. Dave got our first-aid kit from the car and Spencer and him put on burn cream.
Spencer loves his uncle, so Dave and him were out there playing with the Super bounce ball. After dinner we started the Blackberry Cobbler in the dutch oven. (We have the hardest time making this desert, last time we made it we forgot the recipe in my moms car and this time we cooked it way to long and the cake on top was burnt)
One of our favorite things to do while camping is to gather around the blazing camp fire and eat S'mores before bed.
We all got into our tents and just started to relax when it started to rain and it continued to rain through out the night. The rain would come in spurts where it would dump and then sprinkle. Needless to say we woke up to wet fire wood, camp chairs, tents and the sound of horses and people walking by our camp to the hiking trail. We decided to pack our tents and head home.
