Camping

On June 4-5th my family, our friend Skyler, and Kiwi the dog, went camping to the Granite Slate campgrounds up on Mt. Timpanogos. We left around 11am to go and find a park and stay campground site. It took us quite a while to find one. Every one was booked. We finally found a walk-in campground site we decided to reserve. We had to gather all of our stuff and walk about 1/4th of a mile to get to our camp area. Below our camp area there was a raging river with a waterfall. We also hung up a hammock over looking the river.
First few hours we hung around and some of us took naps. Skyler took a nap in the hammock and Spencer says,"I want to get in one of those and act dead." He did look dead, the whole time he was sleeping he didn't move a muscle. For dinner we had sloppy Joes and chips. Skyler left to go jamming down in Provo for the evening. While he was away we went on a short hike. While walking on a board walk, we found a toy dinosaur and Spencer claimed it as his. We also found a baby snake which Spencer was determined to capture but couldn't. Later that evening we made S'mores over the fire and a Raspberry cobbler in the dutch oven. The cobbler didn't get done until well after 10 o'clock and it turned into a pudding but, still pretty good. Skyler still wasn't back from Provo and the gates to the area closes at 10 pm, so we thought that he wouldn't be back until morning. I went to sleep in Dave's tent so he wouldn't be lonely. Everyone was in bed when Skyler showed up. Luckily the gate was still open and he found his way to camp. I packed my stuff and moved over to the other tent.
The next morning we broke camp and hiked up the mountain to the Mt. Timpanogos caves. Skyler took Spencer on his shoulders and headed up the trail it only took him 35 mins, Dave was right behind him talking on his cell phone. The trail was long and steep, it took my mom, Britnie and me longer to reach the top. We missed our tour at 2:30 but, the tour guide took us in anyways.
Reaching our cars we were all hungry and tired. We all went home, eat pizza and crashed on the couches.
Can't wait to do it again.
