August 11th- 27th Dave, Ryker and I drove a total of 13 hours to Whitefish, Montana. We left around 2pm and headed to Rigby, Idaho to spend the night at aunt Donna's -- (5 hour drive) Ryker learned how to crawl the day before we left and the day we left he mastered it, so every rest stop we stopped at we would stretch our legs and let little man cruise around for a little bit.
We told aunt Donna that Ryker sleeps through the night, well I will never tell anyone that again. He was up until 1:30 in the morning crying and he wouldn't let us lay him down in the pack-n-play. Dave and I would take turns holding him and around 1am we all piled in the car to see if he would fall asleep. Nope. Still screaming. Our final idea was to change his diaper and we discovered a small diaper rash. On goes the cream and he fells right to sleep. WOW. Next morning we were up and going around 8am, ate breakfast, and on the road at 10am. We had a great 8 1/2 hour drive- even though I was the only driver I managed pretty well.
We were at the cabin for 2 full weeks enjoying relaxation and family time. We spent most of the afternoons on the lake soaking up the sun. Dave practiced wake boarding and did plenty of tube wears with Dan and David Shipley. Ryker loved playing in the lake water and eating and throwing rocks.
We stopped in Hungry Horse a couple of times to browse the stores and get the most wonderful HUCKLEBERRY shakes. It was Ryker's first time trying ice cream and he sure enjoyed it. On the days that were a little cold we headed to beautiful Glacier National Park and walked the cedars, or went swimming at the pool (which we did a lot of, and some days we would go to the lake then after words head to the pool and then into the hot tub. Ryker loved every minute of it) or we went to Kalispell to go shopping, and we spent a Sunday afternoon going to Huckleberry days where we enjoyed shopping at their flee market and eating some great food.
We drove home on Saturday. It took us 14 hours from Whitefish to Orem. We stopped several times and had a picnic outside of McDonalds, and we took our time enjoying the drive. Of course construction and traffic had to get bad in Utah, North of Salt Lake City. After we got through that Ryker did a huge crap. We had to pull over on the side of I-15 and change him in the dark of night. We were lucky to have a large shoulder to pull over and park on. All ‘n all, Ryker is a good baby to travel with. He watched backyardigans and Disney movies, slept, and played with Dad.
We can’t wait until next Summer!
Dave took a picture of this wind turbine blade. We were just leaving our first rest stop just inside the Idaho border on our way to Rigby when we spotted it.
Ryker hanging out with Landon and Maddie.
Tube wars, Dave will tell you, is the most fun you can have on a lake.
The famous “O” face.
Three generations of Sefcik men.
While walking the cedars in Glacier National Park, Ryker got hungry for some hair.
Swimming at Ptarmigan pool with Katya and cousin Ayna.
Dave and Ryan snorkeling at Ashley lake (Katya, Anya, Ryker and I are watching from the boat)
